[SOLVED] Envy does not detect my HD4850?

I have the latest version from the main server(synaptic).
I am trying to install a HD4850 in Ubuntu 8.04.1 64.
It says that envy does not recognize my card as compatible with an envy version of the driver.

Catalyst 8.7 works.

Please, can you post how you get the catalyst 8.7 working with de HD4850? I just switched from an nvidia 7600GT to this one and i can't get this card working properly. When i put the xorg defaults with dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg i get a good resolution, but it won't load the fglrx driver and can't get the dual monitor functionality to work.

If i install the driver following the steps form the wiki when starting up the screen keeps trying to start the X without success...

I've also noticed, since i just changed the hd4850 from the geforce 7600 that maybe some nvidia configuration is still up and won't let the ati driver work properly...

¿does any one got any clues?
