probs conecting to internet or modem

hi i have a problem with hardy heron , if i use the sleep function when i wake the machine up i seem to have lost my connection to the internet or maybe my modem router , i dont have enogh knowlege on how to sort this out. the only way i can get it working again is to do a restart of the pc and power down my modem then power up again.
i also have problem with my other pc which is connected to my router i cannot connect to the internet , i can if i do what i did above but its very hard to get both machines working together, i didnt have this problem with gutsy gibbon , anyone any ideas please

With the first machine that has the problem when it suspends, is it attached to the router by a cable or by a wireless connection?
If it is wireless, can you please open a terminal and type ifconfig and paste here what it says.
