    Any problems with this machine?

I apologize for taking your time again. I've decided to buy new hardware, if anyone of you has any unfortunate experience with any of those peripherials, please let me know. I don't really want to waste money...

    Thanks

That's a mighty fine display card. I've done a bit of googling. There's a review of it here. There's no mention of compiz. There may be a driver problem/support according to this but it's from last year. There doesn't seem to be anything on the compiz forums on HD4870 or HD4850.

Exactly, this review actually praises ATI for its support, I guess it should be fine, thanks .

But I was rather thinking about mainboard. Any possible issues here?

Generally speaking, you'll never have driver-type problems with the CPU, ram, HDD, dvd, and CD drives. Things you do need to worry about are weird integrated devices on the mobo, wireless, video (decide which has a better driver: ATI or nvidia?), sound card, and "other weird sh*t" (as my friend used to say) like peripheral devices or custom built snes controller-to-com-port converters.
