Re: HOW TO: A Beginners Guide to Setting up Conky

I solve most of the errors by deleting calls for second cpus, the weather from an http address, my battery status, etc but can't solve the last one which says "glibc detected *** conky: double free or corruption"

I reckon this is a big problem and so I'm best to just give up. Just wondering though if there is a simple solution.

    Just a few questions.
What is the difference between the conky.conf in the /etc/conky/ directory and the .conkyrc to be created on the /home/user/conky/ directory?

Is it recommended to directly modify the conky.conf file?
I created a .conkyrc in my home directory, but when i run conky from the terminal the default conky appeared on the desktop not the created conkyrc.

When you install conky it installs /etc/conky/etc/conky/ as it's primary default conky IF ~/.conkyrc does not exist.

You must create ~/.conkyrc yourself and after that a terminal command of:
    Code:
    conky
will start the new ~/.conkyrc by default.

I don't use a battery, maybe someone in the Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots can help. 20062 posts in that thread prove it is popular!
