Why not? Ubuntu is Free Software, people are free to do whatever they want with it. In case you're wondering, those are not official derivatives of Ubuntu.

Oh I'm aware of the fact it's free and anybody can do anything to it... I just can't understand the determination. If you posess the knowledge why not direct to something more constructive? Maybe it's because I'm a godless sodomite who will burn for eternity.

Well, whatever gets you your kicks. If people like making the distros, and others like using them, I fail to see the problem. I agree that there's probably better ways to "spread the word" than through a Linux-distro, but hey, that's their choice. I don't use them, am also godless, and don't intend to use them, but really, why shouldn't other people?

It wasn't meant to be childish. I have no answer to "why" except the above. I also have no answer to "why not?" which is why I asked the question.

And why on earth did you ask us? How should we know? Go ask them.

Who's to say that one project is more constructive than another. I'm sure Steve Balmer doesn't think that Linux is constructive and I would also guess that he thinks that everyone with programming knowledge should work for him.
