Ok i have installed xp in virtual however it wants a password to start up and i didnt put one in at all any one shed some light or know a way around this

Have tried doing that to no avail and have tried all my passwords just incase i did but again no joy

Probably. You might want to search at a Microsoft forum just to be sure that your not overlooking something.
