sis audio drivers for hardy heron

hi,

i have tried in vain to get the sound working on my laptop.

as i am a newbie could anyone out there please give me some guidance which will help me and others in the future.

i have a sis audio card.

i dont know how to get the details of the exact type of audio card in my laptop.

Hi I am also a new Ubuntu user but I am running Intrepid. I was running Heron prior to that also with an SiS Sound card AC97 I think? Anyway sound was fine with Heron but when I installed Intrepid I lost all sound. What I found though is when Ubuntu is booting up try hitting the Esc key and boot it into one of the other configurations listed. I did this and suddenly my sound was working again. I still don't know why it doesn't work with the standard config or how I can copy the other config settings across. If anyone knows how to do this it would be appreciated..thanks and......Good luck
