Question [SOLVED] Sound card not being recognized

Ok, so I am fairly new to linux and all of it's wonders. I am primarily a windows user (due to the fact that it is the only operation system the US Army will use) and I have been playing around with linux on my laptop (a Toshiba Satelite M55-S135). I must mention that I am not directly booting linux on the machine, but rather as a virtual OS using microsoft's Virtual PC 2007. I am able access all of the other hardware on the machine except the soundcard. The soundcard is a Realtek AC97. Could this just be a problem with drivers, or am I just out of luck and the issue is actually in the Virtual PC software.

EDIT: by the way i am using Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn)

Re: Sound card not being recognized

Nevermind. A friend downloaded a virus to my computer, so I just formatted the HD and did a dual-boot. sound card works fine in both OS's now.
