[SOLVED] I need help creating a shared folder

I've not tried to create a shared folder for other computers on my network to access since installing 8.04 fresh a few months ago. So I figured I'd see what's new.

I created a folder called Shared, then right-clicked on it and clicked Sharing options.

I'm presented with a box with three check marks, the first being for enabling the share. Upon checking it off, I'm notified that Samba needs to be installed.

After installing samba and checking the last two boxes off, I clicked create share. But I got this error message in return:

What did I do wrong?

Your kidding, right? I've never logged into root for anything. I don't even know how. I've used sudo like crazy in terminal windows.... but really, I feel like I've been delivered a half-baked "feature" that doesn't do what I need it to do without opening a terminal window.
