    YES, you can use the Startup Manager (SUM) to change your default usplash.
    Steady movement is more important than speed, much of the time. So long as there is a regular progression of Stimuli to get your mental hooks into, there is room for lateral movement. Once this begins, its rate is a matter of discretion.

    I don't want to change the usplash.
    Some splash screens which can be downloaded from

    http://www.gnome-look.org/index.php?xcontentmode=160

    are not usplash(*.so)

    can I use those

    Yes you can. Install SUM.(search SUM in Add/Remove and install it)
