mplayer error AVC: nal size 0
I have a video clip from an Aiptek Action HD digital camcorder that plays back in MPlayer, but during playback it keeps displaying the error window Error! AVC: nal size 0. The clip is a MOV file with h.264 compression. It is not a perfect clip as it causes windows problems also, but it looks good and a previous distro I used played it wonderfully without the error.
Any thoughts? |

Re: mplayer error AVC: nal size 0
You can try passing the -really-quiet switch to MPlayer, that should at least get rid of that window.

Re: mplayer error AVC: nal size 0
Excellent. That is exactly what I needed. I suppose I need to find out what is wrong with the video and fix it. But this is what I needed and why Ubuntu will always be one of the top distros available. Thanks so much.

Re: mplayer error AVC: nal size 0
The -really-quiet switch suppresses error dialogs.
It can be either added to a command line, like this Code:
mplayer -really-quiet "video_file.ext" Code:
really-quiet=yes |

Re: mplayer error AVC: nal size 0
Hi
Thanks for the work around for the error messages. I'm worried that the error still occurs. When I launched mplayer from the command line: gmplayer -really-quiet and then ran a video (h.264 avc) I got the following output... can anyone decode the output? The video itself seems to play fine... Thanks! Code:

**** Your system is too SLOW to play this! ****
************************************************
Possible reasons, problems, workarounds:
- Most common: broken/buggy _audio_ driver
- Try -ao sdl or use the OSS emulation of ALSA.
- Experiment with different values for -autosync, 30 is a good start.
- Slow video output
- Try a different -vo driver (-vo help for a list) or try -framedrop!
- Slow CPU
- Don't try to play a big DVD/DivX on a slow CPU! Try some of the lavdopts,
e.g. -vfm ffmpeg -lavdopts lowres=1:fast:skiploopfilter=all.
- Broken file
- Try various combinations of -nobps -ni -forceidx -mc 0.
- Slow media (NFS/SMB mounts, DVD, VCD etc)
- Try -cache 8192.
- Are you using -cache to play a non-interleaved AVI file?
- Try -nocache.
