[SOLVED] can't use ubuntu 7.10 live cd

I have a pc running vista and i want to partition my hardrive so i can do a dual boot it ( i don't want to use wubi because someone scared me off from it.)

But every time i want to use it it shows up there is a problem with it try again in 2 minutes and 90 seconds (i think)

please and i mean please help.

download 8.04 live CD
-or-
download 7.10 alternate install CD

IDK why it would say 2 minutes 90 seconds when that would really be 3 minutes and 30 seconds

where can i find the ubuntu 7.10 alternate install CD
to?

go on www.releases.ubuntu.com

and browse that site for something like ubuntu-7.10-alternate-i386.iso or instead of i386, look for amd64 if you have a 64bit processor (if you don't know what that means then just go with the i386 one)

what i want to do is use the live cd to partition my hardrive but how do i get the live cd to work because i wanted to do it so i used virtal box to help me test it ( i used th gutsy live cd)

oh good i installed hardy by partitioning my hardrive and i thought i was going to loss vista but nope i didn.
