Wine not working...HELP!

ok so i get wine and i was looking at the programs that work

i picked Soldat as a test run

i download and installed it and when i try and run it i get a thing saying i need DirectX 8.1 or higher...but microsoft doesnt support linux (it IS the anti microsoft after all)

whats up?

try this:
wine "application.exe" -opengl

if this doesn't work. Let me know what version of wine you are using.
