Hi and you need to stop x before using that command, cd to the directory of the file location. it should run as sudo.
    Code:
    sudo sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-177.13-pkg1.run

Going that way is going to be overly complicated. Look in System > Administration > Hardware drivers (Or possibly 'Restricted hardware/drivers)

That is a much simpler and easier way to get the Nvidia drivers installed.

Assuming you have ticked the box to enable the drivers, there is a green tick next to the driver name and you have rebooted then you should be using the drivers. Updating the drivers won't make anything noticeably faster and in all likelyhood it's a problem with flash itself.

To confirm you have the drivers running do this:

Open a terminal (Applications > Accessories > Terminal) and run this command:

    Code:
    glxinfo | egrep "vendor|direct"
Copy and paste that, run it and post the results.

    alexander@alexander-desktop:~$ glxinfo | egrep "vendor|direct"
    direct rendering: Yes
server glx vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation
client glx vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation
    OpenGL vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation
    alexander@alexander-desktop:~$
so ya its running, but I had xp a month ago and you tube worked perfectly, also my games now dont work very well And I don't have the same interface I did with xp, as in I don't have a whole program to to set it up

Hi and that is because Ubuntu is not windows. What games are you trying to use and if you are using wine to play them? If you are having issue with youtube have you tried this command
    Code:
     sudo update-alternatives --config java

What are the option you have, I have only 2
    Code:
There are 2 alternatives which provide `java'.

      Selection Alternative
    -----------------------------------------------
    *+ 1 /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre/bin/java
              2 /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/java

Press enter to keep the default[*], or type selection number:
