    Question Easy Sound Editor

    I would just want to edit music (e.g. WAV) files, mostly just:
    * cutting off parts
    * add several files together in one file
    * increase, decrease the volume
    I am not looking for a high end editing software. What is an easy to use software for Gnome (or KDE)?

    I've just read the most excellent HowTo ever: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=766683

    http://www.jokosher.org/ maybe? (probably a little overkill, but IIRC it should be simple to cut and paste)

    Another vote for Audacity. Does everything you mention, plus record sound, transcode to different formats/bitrates, apply effects, etc.

    i've used audacity for the past six or seven years. it's good. but the change from sound systems in ubuntu confused me.
    a simple editor would be good.
    with audacity, it's always complicated to choose which sound source. also the version i'm using now seems a big buggy in the graphic editor (ie. detecting where to cut is almost impossible).

    just installing rezound to check it out.
