Turn Zone Alarm security to Medium.
I know you're probably not asking seriously, but I've had a few of my own that I've had to fix due to the same problem.
And, incidentally, from what I've heard, the Microsoft Update that caused all these problems was supposedly the result of an emergency meeting by the heads of MS, Cisco, and various others due to an issue which could "destroy the internet". So don't joke about it guys. And if anyone out there has a several hundred terabyte floppy drive available - please make a backup of the internet immediately!

Reminds me of the time when I couldn't connect through ADSL: I conected athrough dial-up and left a note on the nearest thing I could find to a relevant support page. An hour or two later I rang my ISP's help desk, the support guy ran me through a bunch of checks for my router. After about 15-20 minutes of checking, he did a remote check on the phone line, and discovered the fault was at their end. Things were up and running again three or four hours later. The next morning I get an email asking why I FELT I couldn't connect. What both annoyed and amused me was that (a) the problem had already been fixed, and (b) FEELING that I couldn't connect had nothing to do with it, the connection had definitely been bust!
