Angry DVD backups not playable in standalone players

I have used dvdbackup and k3b to make copies of my dvds for a long while and never had any problems whatsoever, with Feisty and Gutsy. Now I have switched to Hardy and this time I have gone for the 64 bits version. For a month I've been tweaking my system to suit my needs and all seemed to be well but when I've tried a dvd backup by the usual means, I have found that they don't play anymore in any of my two players, which of course are still able to play the old copies. I have searched the net and these forums up and down, installed all kind of libraries and even tried k9copy, dvd::rip, avidemux and what not, without luck. It's the first time in years that I don't find an answer to a linux problem in the net.

Has anyone got a clue about what may be going on?

I'm getting the same problem. I first used DeVeDe with Fedora 8, and it worked like a dream. Since then, I can't get anything to work.
