I use autofs frequently; using this this /etc/auto.master (Ubuntu 8.04):
/smb /etc/auto.smb --timeout=60
/net /etc/auto.net --timeout=60
Using from the command line it all works fine. However, using Nautilus is all slows down my computer. Nautilus always tries to search .Trash which is not there:

No wonder, .Trash (.Trash-1000; 1000 is my uid indeed) is something used by the Gnome desktop and I connecting to systems not dealing with Gnome.
I was wondering if it is possible to turn off .Trash for network shares (NFS and possibly SMB as wel)
As described at http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817...neral-1?a=view (take a lookt at item 4.7 it is possible to switch off the trash using NFS.
However, it seems for Gnome 2.0 and I haven been able to set set it for Gnome 2.22.2
Anyone knows how to switch of .Trash for NFS when using Nautilus? Or: how to get rid of these failing mount attemps using autofs.
Thankz!
