    Advice for a power supply

Do you know what power supply will have all the right pins/ connectors and power for this lot?

    mobo - GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3L (4 PCIe slots)
    cpu - q6600,
gpu - GIGABYTE GeForce 8800 GT,
    16x DVD burner,
    2x sata drive,
1x ata drive (will up to sata),

possibly another DVD burner in the future too.
    Xubuntu 10.04 on a HP DV5215US Laptop, 1gb RAM, 80GB HDD, with a ATI Radeon Express 200m.

Any standard PS will have the right connectors. Need not worry about that.

I suggest you have a look at newegg.com for at least 600W power supplies and read the comments there. Choose a PS with at least 120mm fan because those with smaller fans are louder.

Well that is a loaded question. Just make sure the power supply you purchase will have enough watts for expansion and it will usually give you details of the connectors in the specs.

Yes, I too would echo what other are saying: just make sure you have enough watts, and there should be the right connectors. 600 sounds about right.
