[SOLVED] Texas Instruments ACX 111 freezes my computer

I've installed hardy on an older system. Installation went fine, but the system freezes almost immediately after login, leaving the keyboard leds blinking. I've pin-pointed the problem to the texas instruments acx 111 wireless network card, which I was trying to set up (wpa-psk).

How can I fix the wireless networking?

Should I first disable it again, and if s, how?
