    vlc video scrambled and no audio

    Im trying to play a wmv file on vlc. becauase totem wont even open it..IM not sure i have all the right stuff instlled her. the video is unviewable and theres no sound..can anyone help me get this right..whats everything that needs to be downloaded to get it right..totem said the file was encypted and wouldnt play it.maybe another play will? what should i do..please help

    are you running compiz? if so, have you tried to play it with compiz turned off?

    how do i disable compiz? Thats under advanced desktop settings right? Im still fairly new to linux..sorry..

    im not running compiz and still no such luck..visual effect turned off
