I would like to stay completely linux. can anyone help as if i will have any major hardware issues and wat version of ubuntu would be recommended
any help be apprciated.

Start with a LiveCD of Ubuntu 8.04.1, 64-bit, and likely all will work as you wish it to. The video card might be an issue... some have had troubles with it but 8.04.1 might have fixed things.
