Yeah, but not on the same screen. I like having lots of info infront of me and not having to switch consoles all the time. Thats why my vista box has dual screens

I've given it a try, yet i think i did something wrong as when the gui loads, my screen can't display the resolution (does linux not have a low default res?) and when i go to the cosole, the screen does not scroll down to follow my inputs.

How did you install the gui? What gui?

If someone has a start to finish install method. i'd like to start over and get this right.

Installing the full ubuntu desktop on ubuntu server is as simple as

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop

But if this is what you want then you can use the desktop cd as well. You can install a lighter desktop on a server install:

If you want something lightweight then, install xorg, xterm and openbox.

Pal, you can do whatever you like with the terminal. You're just not familiar with it. If you don't have time to get familiar (or you don't want to) then install the full ubuntu desktop (or the desktop cd) and get it over with.

Or PuTTY on a ******* box. As many sessions as you want. I am never at my actual consoles unless I am installing the OS.
