Angry Help needed: Installing Linux OS(Knoppix, Ubuntu or Puppy)

    Hello,

I have finally decided to switch my operating system from Windows to Linux but i am having a hard time doing so.

I have surf the net and found Knoppix, Ubuntu and Puppy OS so interesting. But my problem is I don't have a cd/dvd writer nor USB pen to install the program.

I have 2 harddrives installed on my pc (1 40g and 1 10g). I am planning to save the iso image file to my 10g hdd and have installed on my 40g harddrive. Would it be possible?

I tried downloading the file for each OS and saving it on my 10g hdd but it not booting up. I also tried extracting the file but still no luck.

Can you guys help me on installing any of this OS please....

    Thank you in advance.

    Steven

If you don't have a CD writer you can request a free CD from https://shipit.ubuntu.com/

Take a look at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/ which should give you some ideas. Good luck.

The link gave you has a section for installing without a CD :

    https://help.ubuntu.com/community/In...thout%20a%20CD

You can download the iso, mount it with deamon tools, and install ubuntu using wubi

    Hello,

I have tried downloading the UNetbootin program as it was provided on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/ and run it.

And at the event that my is PC booting up, I was asked from which OS am I going to boot with. So I picked UNetbootin to install the program. But I can't seem to pass on it. It is a black screen but it is not pushing through to the installation process.

It looks like it is asking for some other file. I don't know what to do next or if I am doing it the right way.

    Please help.

    Thank you.

Is there a reason why you didn't just download the cd and install it in the traditional method?
Why can't life have a sudo apt-get install -f command?
Install VMWare Server 2 on a text-only system
Need help getting your printer working in Linux?
It's all about choice, right? Then stop flaming Windows users.
