IN COMPUTER HELL....
I recently vowed to rid my house of all microsoft anything... I have an old gaming rig that I've been using as a media hub - hp pav n250a pentium 4 2.6. its got a gig of ram, 2 hard drives and an nvdia e-Geforce7600gs..anyway... I recently purged my girlfriends computer of microsoft and I installed Simply mepis, as the only thing she does on her computer is type, listen to music, surf, and load pictures.. I tried out a bunch of different distros before I settled on Ubuntu for my baby, and for some reason no matter what I do, I can't get my computer online. I have tried everything. The connection works, as it is the one that is usually on her computer. And for some reason no other distro seems to work on my rig... Everything works on her dell fine, but my hp ain't having it... is there something really simple here that I am missing... I have tried everything I can think of trying to connect to the internet... I'm using a motorola sb5101 modem... I have tried every possible set up configuration, no ping... and when I try to

"sudo pppoeconf"

it won't let me say NO to get to modconf, nor will it recognize the eth0 and eth0:avahi

I have been going over the same things over and over and over and nothing makes sense... anymore.. I can't even remember what a cheeseburger is....

I've got a question:
I've been browsing around and haven't found yet any satisfactory answer as to how to install or find a driver for the Creative 7420 USB ADSL modem.
Does anyone have an answer or a suggestion about where to find an answer?
