Unhappy Myth FrontEnd Not Lining up horizontally

So I upgraded to 8.04 and ran into several issues. The first of which resulted in my screen going black whenever I tried to playback video, whether it was livetv or recorded. The video played, I could tell because I had sound, but I could see nothing. Mythfrontend still responded as I could back out to the normal menu.
Ok, no problem, I'll check my MPEG drivers, make sure they got updated. Tried both Standard and libmpeg2 and same thing occurred with both.
Secondly, I had a problem with a few of the recording settings in the backend - seems they were changed. I changed them back and everything seems to work there. I can tell because the thumbnails in mythtv appear perfect.

So with issue 2 solved, I moved back to tackling issue 1. I thought, well maybe the driver is incompatible with 8.04. I upgraded to the latest catalyst driver (8.6) and now mythfrontend is messed up. I think the image is all there, but the display doesn't seem to line up quite right. Anyway I can resolve with the new drivers?

By the way, fglrxinfo says this:

    display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600/9700 Series
    OpenGL version string: 2.1.7659 Release

    Thanks in advance!

It would appear that the screensaver was being activated. Try disabling the screensaver to see if it fixes the problem (if you can revert back to how it was before.)

My desktop is fine, but once I start the mythfrontend everything goes crazy. I turned the screen saver off just to make sure. I can still navigate to "Watch TV" and the screen was still black, so I'm still having the same problem.
I haven't yet tried a full wipe and reinstall, do you think that would help at all? I'm hesitant to do that because of all the recordings and other settings that are still saved.

My xorg.conf file as it pertains to graphics looks like this:

    Code:
    # xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)
    #
    # This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
    # values from the debconf database.
    #
    # Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page.
    # (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
    #
    # This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
    # if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
    # package.
    #
    # If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
    # again, run the following command:
    # sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

    Section "ServerLayout"

            # Uncomment if you have a wacom tablet
            # InputDevice "stylus" "SendCoreEvents"
            # InputDevice "cursor" "SendCoreEvents"

    EndSection

    Section "Extensions"
            Option "Composite" "0"
    EndSection
I added the VideoOverlay and OpenGLOverlay pieces and then commented them out as I saw no change.

As a recent development, my video output looks perfect (on the TV) until I try to watch any sort of video, then the screen goes black. For reference, I can watch anything in VLC and it shows up just fine.

UPDATE: All the sudden the frontend looks fine - still no video, but audio when playing back recordings.

Came across this when running mythfrontend from the terminal. This seems to be the problem - anyone have any solutions?

Re: Myth FrontEnd Not Lining up horizontally

    Try adding
    Option "VideoOverlay" "on"
    Option "OpenGLOverlay" "off"
    Option "TexturedVideo" "on"
    xorg.conf

    and then run aticonfig --input=/etc/X11/xorg.conf

Re: Myth FrontEnd Not Lining up horizontally

Ok, did that and now the video shows up on my monitor, but with some horizontal lines missing. Nothing shows up on TV-Out.
So, xvinfo now works, but still not quite right.

Re: Myth FrontEnd Not Lining up horizontally

Ok, I solved the horizontal line problem.

I followed the steps here to the letter:

    http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubu...allation_Guide

I used Method 2 to get things working and of course ran into the couple of errors shown.

Now both monitors work as advertised.

However, when I go to playback TV, either LiveTV or recorded, I get audio but no video. I have a black screen. Mythfrontend still responds, but no video is shown.

By the way, thanks for the help!
