    Internet Troubleshooting

    Hello,

I am having internet problem. When I open firefox and type the address, it seems to wait forever

I don't have such problem if i restart the pc and type again. But after using the pc for sometime, the problem happens again

So it seems that if I keep the internet idle for some time, this problem happens

I used to have this problem in fedora 9 too.

    Thanks.

ok.. if you are able to ping but page doesnt load, it could be a dns issue.. try changing dns servers to opendns http://prash-babu.blogspot.com/2008/...-in-linux.html

I disabled ipv6 and now I can load pages

Btw, is using opendns ok? I don't quite get that. I do not have much idea what dns servers actually are and what is their purpose

    Re: Internet Troubleshooting

DNS servers basically tell you that google.com belongs to x.x.x.x ip.. so if you have a faster DNS , your pages would load faster..opendns is one of the best..
