    hi,
    just installed karmic.
before going into fixing the dsdt I'm curious to know if i'm the only one not reading the cpu temperature? (i've had this problem with jaunty as well and had to fix the dsdt)

    waiting for your comments.
    tnx

    Hi marranzano,

You can't use a patched DSDT in Karmic. The kernel dev.s dropped the support for the DSDT kernel patch. 67GTA talks about this on his thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1036051 and on a thread he started in the Karmic forum. I think OpenSuse decided to get the patch working for 2.6.31 and he talks about that too.

    You can try adding:
    Code:
    acpi_osi="Linux"
    to the boot options.

although showing temperature i doubt it's the right temp:
i have both cpu (AMD Turion 2100) scaled at 525, no particular activity and have a temp ranging in the high 70 degrees...!!!
is there a way to fix this??
    tnx

yes!! and the correct way was to open up the machine and clean it!!

    Hey andre.mella,

I am having the same problem. I just did a clean install of Ubuntu 9.10 on my tx2500z and the sound is not working. This is very annoying, because the sound worked fine in 9.04. I will be working to find a solution to this problem, because I really don't want to downgrade to 9.04!

If someone who is running 9.10 on a tx2500z and has working sound, could you please post your alsa-base.conf so I can compare it to mine. Thanks

Re: Info and help for HP TX2500 Series

    Hey andre.mella,

I am working on fixing my problem, and I wanted to ask you a few questions about your problem, to see if it is the same problem. Did the sound ever work with Ubuntu 9.10? For example when I boot to the 9.10 Live CD, the sound is working! If possible try booting to the live CD and seeing if you have sound then.

I also have sound after I install Ubuntu 9.10, but something must have broken the sound after I installed it. I am going through installing different programs and drivers again, to see if I can find out what it was that stopped my sound from working.

    Thanks

    Hi everyone,

An off the wall thought. Check the modules file in /etc/. See if 'lp' and 'fuse' are in there. If 'fuse' is missing try adding it and rebooting.
