    Forcing the TV's resolution

    Hi every body.

I would like to know how to force the TV's resolution to 1280x1024 because my computer is in 1280x1024 and my TV in 1024x768 max ...

I plug my computer to my tv by a S-video cable and my TV is my Screen's clone.

I have a NVIDIA 8600gts and its driver installed.

For more informations, contact me !
    Thank you !

Forcer la résolution de la télé

    Bonjour,

    Re: Forcing the TV's resolution

    salut!

if your TV is not capable of 1280x1024, then there's no way you can force it to this resolution. What kind of TV is it ? digital ? or old CRT ?
If it's the old fashion technology (CRT), it depends on your TV encoder chip (the "TV-Out" of your computer). If you have an LCD TV, then it depends on the native resolution of your TV screen. The TV doc should mention it.

    Re: Forcing the TV's resolution

unless your TV encoder (the chip that converts the image to S-Video) can do the resolution you want, no. If you want to know about your encoder chip. I suggest you type lspci in a terminal and spot the relevant hardware. I am not sure it's gonna show up in this list though. You can also read about the doc that came with your PC.

    Re: Forcing the TV's resolution

You can cause serious permanent non-repairable damage to a crt by overdriving it if it lets you. It could even catch on fire.

I know, I have done it,
