How to highlight active window button in "window list"

I would like to highlight / change the color of the active window button in the "window list" in the task bar so that it stands out & shows which window is active. Currently the active window is slightly greyed out, but its not too distinct. I checked in "windows list" preferences, but there is nothing much to control.

(Linux mint highlights active window, but it also highlights the button on which mouse is placed, which means there will be 2 highlighted buttons and is bit confusing.)

There is no setting for it, it depends on the GTK theme you are using.

will I not be able to do this from gconf-editor as well...? If not... and if it takes tweaking the theme, where will I get help on this?
