Tell me about the Cheap(est?) 10-12" Laptops

I'm looking for an ultraportable that has a 10-12" screen. Netbooks are nice but they seem to be too small for my needs and I need a more powerful processor.

I've been looking at 12" Acer laptops and they seem to be good but I want more options. I want to have 10-11" options too. I also want to have options that are as sturdy as Thinkpads but that maybe too much for my budget.

I'm looking for something as expensive as $800 or less.

    What can you suggest?

Asus have a few to consider:

    11.1": http://ph.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=5&l2=23&l3=517

    12.1": http://ph.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=5&l2=23&l3=518

And if you can get your hands on one, the Phillips Freevents: http://www.itreviews.co.uk/hardware/h1093.htm

I have been looking for the same thing. I found a 12 inch HP NC 2400 at Tiger Direct for under $800. It is an older machine looks like it should run Ubuntu fine. I am just wondering if I want to live with a point stick rather then a touch pad

I found some stuff on Newegg:
    12.1": http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...nd&Order=PRICE
<=11.1" (NOTE: The first few are EEE's, scroll past them): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...nd&Order=PRICE

I'll take a nipple over a touch pad any day. I wish my laptop had a nipple!

Hmm. How much could those be? I saw somewhere that those are expensive. Amazon time.

That's really nice. It's just that, I think I can't live with a nipple alone and I can get newer Acers with higher specs with the price.
