problem with external screen

Hi all,

I have a vaio VGN-B1XP laptop and I'm trying to plug an external monitor.

My question is very simple: How do I send the screen signal through the monitor output port to the monitor itself?

I've look in System -> Preferences menu for a tool to switch the signal but the only thing I found was "Screen Resolution" tool which does not help much.

I even try using the "switching" key that use to work on windows, but no success.

Is there any simple way to solve this?

I am having the same problem with my Vaio VGN-S40. Any help would be appreciated.
