    Re: Help with Geforce 7950GT.

Still wont let me bump up the resolution.

I get the option of going lower (320 x 210 or something)

    But it doesn't work.

When i changed the driver to "nv" it came up with one screen bright yellow and the other screen like flickering all different colours. You couldn't see a thing.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Have you played around with:
    Code:
    nvidia-settings

nvidia-settings is the official tool to change your video settings for nvidia cards. It should let you do whatever your card can. Also, are you seeing the nvidia logo flash on your screen when you start Ubuntu? That's an indicator that it's actually using the nvidia driver.

It doesn't show me the nvidia logo when i boot on.

I do have in System > Administration > NVIDIA X Server Settings

A tool there, but even in there it wont let me change the res higher than that.

It looks like it's installed perfectly fine on there everything seems right, but it just wont let me put the resolution up.

It doesn't help i'm using a 21 inch monitor! at 640x320 everything is absolutely gigantic! haha

    Thanks!!

I dont have any NVIDIA splash on boot up, that I am aware of, and my drivers are working.

    Here is my xorg.conf

    Code:

    # nvidia-settings: version 1.0 (buildd@yellow) Tue Mar 4 20:28:57 UTC 2008

    # if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
    # package.
    #
    # If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
    # again, run the following command:
    # sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

I have two monitors (22" LG and 17" DELL) The dell one just died v_v, so now only one is actually working. Maybe looking over this config file might help you to manipulate yours.

To test your new configuration, instead of having to reboot, I think you can just press ctrl+alt+bksp to restart xserver

    Re: Help with Geforce 7950GT.

Well i'm really lost. I've tried everything and nothing seems to work.

I've just managed to boot up from my onboard graphics fine into 800x600.

    So god only knows.

I'm out of options i think... i'm giving up...

    Thanks for all your help!
