Upgarding to 8800gt questions from onboard ati

I have onboard ati x1250 and am wondering id there are any special things I have to do to use my yet to arrive 8800gt. When should I install the nvidia drivers and when should I remove the ati ones (if at all). Should I use nvidia drivers from repos or the ones from their site? thnx.

i've had no issues using the drivers from the repos, so i wouldn't recommend you go through the effort of getting them to work from the nvidia website. however, i think you're going to want to disable the ati drivers before installing the nivdia card (just go to System-> Administration -> Hardware Drivers and uncheck the ati driver). if it doesn't seem to work, then you might consider installing your new card and re-installing the system and making sure you only enable the nvidia driver.
