[SOLVED] text being displayed in capital letters

I've been witnessing something rather strange the passed few weeks.

Some text in various applications on my Ubuntu 8.04 machine is being displayed in a mishmash of capital letters and/or lowercase letters.

Especial application that use the internet like Firefox or Pidgin.

For instance when I navigate to google.com all the text on the page will be displayed in capital letters but when I enter text into the search-field the text will display in lowercase letters. Then again the search results will all be displayed in capital letters.

Caps lock is switched off but I doubt it has anything to do with my keyboard since text displays correctly in windows xp.

Another place I've noticed this to occur is when using pidgin. Only some incoming/outgoing instant messages will be displayed in capital letters even though it should show up in lowercase letters

Try to reinstall your fonts at least. They should be in ttf-dejavu or ttf-bitstream-vera or some other package. Maybe this'll fix it.
