Ok, so Im running Ubuntu Hardy Heron and my sound card blew up. So I had an iMic USB Sound Card, I plugged it in. I created an .asoundrc file in my home folder telling it to use it. I also went into gnome sound configurator and set everything to USB Audio Device and got sound out of the test buttons. I also got this to work with rhythmbox, but the thing is I cant get sound to come from video players, playing videos or mp3s or DVDs. I know the system sees it but I just cant see whats going on. I even ran the video players from terminal telling them to use alsa.

BTW Ive used Mplayer and Xine and...thats it.

I know it can work, because I had a former linux distro that used this hardware just fine.
