? Same problem when you are running the script?

Any feedback on ways to reproduce would be great, so I can steop through the code and see what's going on exactly...

    UPDATE

I've published a new package labelled for Intrepid, starting at version 2.0.

The first post has been updated, and the package is available via apt.

To use the new intrepid "labelled" packages via apt, changes to your sources.list are needed. This:

    Code:
    deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/m-buck/ubuntu hardy main
    deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/m-buck/ubuntu hardy main
    Needs to become this:

    Code:
    deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/m-buck/ubuntu intrepid main
    deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/m-buck/ubuntu intrepid main
Currently either hardy or intrepid packages will work with either version of ubuntu.

However going forwards there are no guarantees that packages will continue to work with hardy, development may introduce intrepid specific dependencies. All future revisions will only be available for intrepid.

Re: Conky Google Calendar Python Script

Seems like I'm having trouble every where tonight!

    I'm getting this error:

    Code:
    Error: GoogleCalendarEngine Initialisation:Unexpected error:'root'
    This is my template:

    Code:
    ${color1}${font Print Bold:size=14}${execi 600 conkyGoogleCalendar --username=name@mydomain.com --password=****** --daysahead=14 --limit=10 --requestCalendarNames="kids"}
    It is worth noting that
    1 I'm using Intrepid
2 I'm using GoogleApps for my GoogleCalendar
3 I have the latest version of both Conky and Gcal.

Do you have events displayed ever? Have you got python-gdata installed?

I wonder whether google calendar was down for a short time?

I am not having any initialisation problems...

I haven't had events displayed ever. I'm still getting the issue this morning and I'm wondering if it has something to do with either using Google Apps or maybe this issue with Rhythmbox?

Also, I do have the latest python-gdata installed.

I don't think the 2 script issues are related

Could you register a new gmail account and setup a test calendar? I think we ought to find out whether it is a support libraries issue, script issue or a calendar issue.

If you setup an account and PM the login details to me, we can both try using the script locally, and work through the issues that way.

    Sound like a plan?

Re: Conky Google Calendar Python Script

Has anyone gotten the script to work with unicode characters in event names? I get the script to work perfectly for all my needs, except when I try to add my "birthday reminder" calendar and there are event names with unicode characters.

I would love a fix for this, since "your name crashed conky" is not a valid reason for forgetting your sisters birthday.

    Can't have that!

As far as I know, the only thing you need to do to get conky working with extended character sets is to add the following above the TEXT section:

    Code:
    # Force UTF8? note that UTF8 support required XFT
    override_utf8_locale yes
Failing that, can you edit the script and let me know if it fixes the issue?

If you installed via apt or the deb file, then to edit the script in gnome run this:

    Code:
    gksudo gedit /usr/share/conkygooglecalendar/conkyGoogleCalendar.py
    Then change the line:

    Code:
    print output
    to this:

    Code:
    print output.encode("utf-8")

If this works then let me know
