    Laptop Screen Brightness

    Hi there!

I've just installed Hardy after playing with some earlier versions and am VERY impressed with the changes. I am having one small problem however. I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FE41M and I can't adjust the screen brightness which means by battery lasts around 40minutes tops which just isn't enough

    Any advice much appreciated!

    Re: Laptop Screen Brightness

when I installed Kubuntu GG, it didnt recognize my Fn keys. So I adjusted the brightness by double-clicking the battery icon and setting brightness defaults for battery or AC.

Fn keys worked out of the box in HH, so I can now change brightness using them.
    good luck.

    Re: Laptop Screen Brightness

That is the issue of ur graphic driver not supporting the function keys. I had the similar issue with proprietary drivers. With default drivers it would use function keys.
As a work around, try pressing Ctrl+alt+f5 and try changing ur screen brightness and then again press Ctrl+alt+f7 to get back to GUI. Hope that ll work for u.
