Which package did you download (the filename).
the file name is off the mozilla firefox dl page, the name is:
firefox-3.0.tar.bz2
i click on it and it decompresses the folder, which file do i click or what is the next step to do from here?
The file you downloaded is already prebuilt, so if you go into the directory you extracted and click on the icon labelled Firefox, Firefox 3 will run. If there are other people using your computer, you maybe better of extracting the package into /opt. You will also need to edit your launchers (short cuts) to point to /opt/firefox/firefox or wherever the firefox executable is located.
Just go into the folder, right-click the "firefox" file, go to Properties, make it executable, and then double-click.
