Sound in Flash Video's stuttering

I have an incredibly annoying problem;

When I watch a flash video (like on youtube) on my Ubuntu machine the sound keeps stuttering.. like I hear sound for 0.5 second then 0.5 nothing then 0.5 sound .. etc... you know... stuttering?!

It always worked fine, I can't pinpoint any specific time when it started occuring, I didnt install anything shifty (well I didnt installed anything really - just updates). I just know it's been doing that for about 1-2 weeks.

Anyone else had this? How can I solve it?

whwaaa i've recently re-installed my system and switched over to swfdec instead of gnash/flashplugin-nonfree..

have you tried to use swfdec instead?

I cant get swfdec working, sites say I dont have flash installed (I symlinked /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/flashplugin-alternative.so to /usr/lib/firefox-3.0/plugins).

I tried turning off software sound mixing (ESD) but that didnt do anything either.

It's strange that it -only- happens in flash.

;/ have you tried epiphany? i'm not @ ubuntu now, but i think the swfdec repo has a mozilla plugin that I installed..?

if it still doesn't work have you tried removing flash plugins, re-installing ff and installing the swfdec-mozilla plugin again..\

o yea! also the swfdec required me to install the mp3 and avi plugins for totem (ffmpeg i think).

Another browser is not really an option I have a second computer so I can always watch flash video's on there, it's just that it should work in the first place.

I did install the mozilla plugin for swfdec (swfdec-mozilla).

I also tried removing flash, but like I said, the websites say I dont have flash installed.

I don't think reinstalling firefox will do any good, though I might try it on a clean firefox profile.

I prolly misunderstood you with the Epiphany thing, I installed it to test and it does the same thing... stutter stutter.

Problem endures, still no one that knows why this is happening?
