Is there any reason to have 3 "SSS" in the sub forum title?Intrepid Ibex Testing and Discusssion
Or my English is too bad?
I always thought this word is with 2 "S".
PS: Maybe this is not the correct place for this topic. Sorry if I am wrong.

Once you got Slack, you never turn back
You're correct, it should have 2 'S' in it
whoever wrote the title spells as baddly as I do.
if it ain't broke you haven't tweaked it enough
You're absolutely right, although it is interesting that a non-native speaker would be the first to notice it...
No - non-native speakers look at English with very critical eyes. I run a website for people who are learning English and I have lost count of the number of times a reader/listener has e-mailed me to point out an error of spelling or grammar which I had overlooked, or even been unaware of (eg did you know it was "minuscule" and not "miniscule"?)
There are lots of German words with three consecutive identical letters (eg "Schifffahrt"), and one or two place names in English ("Invernessshire").
interesting yes supriseing no . A nonnative speaker looks more carefully at the words, a native speaker just reads them .

Actually, if you check the dictionary, both spellings are acceptable.
See here: http://www.barnsdle.demon.co.uk/spell/mini.html
The Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary says of "miniscule" that it is a common spelling of "minuscule" which is not correct. (see http://dictionary.cambridge.org/defi...0795&dict=CALD). And unfortunately I have a link to this dictionary from my website, so my readers/listeners found it, damn them!
