    Firefox freezes playing youtube videos or last.fm?

    Firefox freezes playing youtube videos or last.fm? On last.fm i cant play videos in ubuntu 8.04, the codec and everything is installed and on youtube it freezes(and consumes a lot of processor).

    That's the flash. It sucks for Linux, it crashes Firefox all the time on me.

    No solution as far as I know. Flash is really crappy.

    Its not good there is flash almost on every internet site. Need to solve this I think Adobe opened flash.

    Dude it only happens like once in a while - how often is it for you? Do you have sufficient hardware or are you running off of 256 mb of ram ? Sometimes to prevent it from happening I just delay opening more web pages or playing youtube videos more than once at the same time.

    It happend to me anytime I play some video, and also i cant listen music on last.fm. Maybe I choose wrong version of codecs or player. And I have 2GB of RAM, so its not hardware problem, on windos xp on the same computer it runs smoothly.

    Flash is a binary-only application, so it can only ever be updated by Adobe, and they haven't even seen fit to give us a 64bit version of it, so something tells me they don't love linux any more Certainly not enough to fix the bugs.

    I'm about to try Gnash - it's a free flash-esq app that might work better... apparently Youtube works with it...
