    I am new to this OS and I have a few problems

    i really want to give this os a test drive before i
    go back to windows ( if i ever figured it out)

    im tryin to install wine

    when i go to terminal and type in sudo etc.
    then it says sudo password

    when i try to type in anything it doesnt do anything

    The password you're typing is not shown for security reasons. Just type the password and hit enter. Btw you can install wine using synaptic System -> Administration -> Synaptic package manager - there's no need to use terminal

    Why are you installing Wine using the terminal? Open the Synaptic Package Manager in System>Administration>Synaptic Package Manager. Search for "wine" and install it.
    Think carefully before executing commands containing "rm", especially "sudo rm -rf ", if you require more information concerning this matter, read this.
    I am an experimenter, give me the most stable OS and I can make it unstable in a few hours.

    What programs do you want to install in Wine?
    Offen there is a native alternative to windows apps and they run a lot better. Let us know maybe we know a good alternative

    the terminal doesn't show **** in place of your password. It shows nothing at all; you just have to trust that it's there and hit enter.

    In fact, you do not even have to use the terminal or synaptic. You can simply search for wine in Applications>Add/Remove...
