    I'm trying to do this with 10.10 but no luck. For instance, I do not have a /etc/initramfs-tools/root folder. Anyone in the same boat?

    This tutorial is badly outdated. Take a look at this instead:
    /usr/share/doc/cryptsetup/README.remote.gz

    Has anyone gotten this to work with 10.10?
