    "Double Clicking"

Is there any way to change the default "double-click" requirement when launching applications from the desktop?

I've seen other distros where "single-clicking" would start the application. I find that much more elegant.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you open Nautilus, then Edit > Preferences > Behavior > Single click to open items

Nautilus is not a window manager. Its your default file broswer. The folders and programs on your desktop top are also part of nautilus, so if you make a change to the usual file browser gui, then you also make it to your desktop.
