Login screen has HUGE text

Hello, i have just done a clean install of ubuntu 8.04 on a laptop, everything works fine, except the login screen has huge text, how can i change this? The screen resolution is 1280 x 800 @ 60 hz

I have played around with appearance settings > font size and looked in the login window setting but i can see what is wrong with it!
Can someone tell me how to fix this?

Got back to SYSTEM then PREFERENCES and APPEARANCE and go to FONTS

LOOK AT MY SCREEN PRINT AND SET SIMILAR PREFFERENCES TO THE SIZE 10 OR 12, AND CHECK THE TEXT STYLE

Or if that doesn't work, try going into system preferences and screen resolution and try to set different resolutions to find the right one for your desktop

Basically i did it for when i first booted the machine, so could it be something to do with my x.org file?

Did you try selectign a different theme in login window ? there should be some options also to select a different style of login such as Themed, Plain, or Themed with browser

If i have it plain, it make the login text box disappear, it has text font about size 96 in msword!

Having it themed, with the ubuntu default it work fine, but the imput box the text is huge, bigger than the box itself

it should have a loging name bob and Password as ********
but it has BOB AND *********** which is annoying!!
Any ideas

This problem affects me too, and it even affects GDM on a Xnest server.

Attached are screenshots of GDM and the "Options" dialog, taken by running

gdmflexiserver -n

after installing Xnest.
