    Yes it did!!!
    -> the menubar is gone
-> location bar toggle button is gone
-> view switch drop-down is gone

I was so irritated that I had to remove the patched version of nautilus and install the original one.

I would expect that the only change in nautilus is the "space key" patch and nothing more.

They're still here u can activate them with normal nautilus shortcut:
    - ctrl+l : location bar writable/clickable
    - ctrl+f : to find a file
    - ctrl+1 ..2/3: differents view icons/list/etc

The actual nautilus patched version available in Tualatrix ppa is a simplified nautilus from the spirit of 100 paper cuts. All i write here, we discussed it in a question in launchpad, pleas read the answers and tell me if they work for you:

I understand now why gnome community developpers are so conservative.

I am absolutely confused on how to use coverflow. Am I supposed to use nautilus actions? Is it Ctrl+C & Ctrl+Space? Right-click?

Can someone give me step by step instructions? Thx.

Just updated, killed Nautilus, then started it again to see the new layout.

One query: is everyone else having Nautilus handle the desktop properly? My icons have disappeared, and the context menu will not show up. Is this just me? Is a reboot in order?
I don't really mind, and it's starting to get to me.

if you are in a pure gnome session perhaps it's better to reload the gnome session as nautilus control the icons on your desktop too.
The ppa of the patched nautilus has been updated yesterday we are waiting for your feedback!

coverflow is for the moment experimental that's why it's not available in the ppa. Anyway if u want to try it u can download it and compile it from our bzr branch.
U can use it from the console with the command:
    gloobus path_to_directory_u_want

i am sure u can link this with a nautilus action too.

You're right. Logged out and back in, and my convoluted desktop is back

As for the new layout, it was a bit of a surprise. Users of Jaunty usually have to explicitly opt in to the new layout. I'm getting used to it...having no menubar by default is certainly odd.
I don't really mind, and it's starting to get to me.

Thanks for your tips regarding keyboard short cuts. Anyway in my opinion it is a matter of usability. Usually the key short cuts are only an add on to some GUI options. For me the situation were the shortcuts are present but I cannot do something using regular UI is not normal and breaks some common rules in area of usability.
I'm not conservative but I like my desktop to be consistent.
