    Manage firefox java plugins?

I'm struggling to get the Many Eyes visualizations working on my laptop (http://services.alphaworks.ibm.com/m...ing&order=desc) and ... um ... struggling.

I used synaptic to install the sun-java6-plugin, but my aboutlugins page still shows me using GCJ Web Browser Plugin 0.92 and Java(TM) Plug-in 1.6.0_03-b05

When I try to run visualizations, here is the error I get:

How can I get Firefox to use the right javaplugin?

Go into the synpatic package manager and remove the gcj plugin and reinstall the sun plugin and jre. You may need to reboot for it to show up in FF.

Just had the same problem here. In Synaptic, look for the Icedtea plugin and un-install it. If you have the Sun Java installed, chances are that you have the appropriate plugin installed already. If not install it.

I didn't install the Icedtea Java here, but I think it is installed as part of the "restricted extras" package and replaced the previously installed Sun Java plugin.
