My friend's dinosaur of a laptop became so overloaded with spyware and viruses, it was totally unusable. I offered to load Ubuntu onto it, and everything installed okay, but it won't access the internet.
The system is a Dell Inspiron 2650 which uses a plug-in Belkin wireless card, model F5D7011. I found some resources which indicated all I had to do was plug the laptop into a wired connection and download some updates. However, when I plug in a direct ethernet connection, I still don't get an internet connection. Any ideas?
