A new installation of i386 Ubuntu Studio on a Toshiba Satellite A205-SP5813 works perfectly except for internet connections. Specifically, Network Manager is not installed with Ubuntu Studio, but it still connected to the internet using a cable connection to the Motorola cable modem. However, when plugged into the TP-LINK router it couldn't find the router address even after installing Network Manager and enabling roaming mode for the wired connection. The connection information shows all zeros for IP address, broadcast address, subnet mask, default route, primary DNS, and secondary DNS. Conversely, when running from the Live CD the router connection worked perfectly as Network Manager was setup right and running the show from the beginning. Thus, no hardware issues are present. What do I need to change to get NM to recognize the router?
